The brief was to activate the existing pocket of outdoor space and the empty tenancies by converting the area to destination dining and completing the retail offering of the centre as as a whole. The centre piece for the Piazza is a feature fountain which includes a mosaic jester and which radiates its pattern in granite with marble inlay. As part of the project, the brief included the branding and naming of the scheme, which was coined La Piazza.
The restaurants spill out on to the Piazza with retractable awning-covered concession areas which enjoy the sights and sounds of the canal and children playing in the fountain itself. The restaurants flank both edges of the Piazza and overlook the Grand Canal sporting views of Table Mountain and Table Bay. The tenants include: Col’Cacchio, Taiwan City, Cattle Baron, Primi Piatti, Annapurna and Braza.
